Training Center Reopens with Ribbon Cutting

In early 2016, the Danville Area Training Center (DATC) at 630 Randolph Street, began a near 4,000 square foot expansion project to better serve the community’s training needs. On Wednesday, September 20 at 11 a.m., DATC hosted a ribbon cutting and grand re-opening to unveil its new training space to the community.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, DATC staff and Danville Life Saving Crew (DLSC) volunteers offered tours of the new clinical rooms, classrooms, equipment and DLSC’s Special Operations Department.

Each DLSC volunteer is trained at DATC, along with thousands of community members each year. DATC offers CPR classes weekly, alongside monthly courses in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. DATC also offers EMT courses from Basic to Intermediate.

Thanks to a partnership with Danville Community College, EMT Basic and Intermediate students earn up to 21 college credit hours for taking the four to eight month courses. DATC is continuously working with other local organizations to create training partnerships and make training easily accessible to the community.

DATC expanded its facility to fill a training void in Danville and surrounding areas. However, while expanding training space, DATC accrued a vast majority of the debt from the project. Though multiple sponsors have generously donated $250,000 to the project, DATC still owes roughly $750,000 on the building.

During the ceremony on September 20, DATC’s Capital Campaign will be announced. The ceremony will kick off the beginning of DATC’s Capital Campaign to pay off the remainder of the building. DATC is optimistic that all $750,000 can be collected in 18-24 months, due to the generosity and support of the community and local grant funding.
